A company-centered dance training program opening in Fort Worth, Texas. Fort Dance is built around strong technique, developing artistry, and meaningful professional exposure, in small, intentional class sizes.
Founded by Brie Underwood-Duemig, Fort Dance is the studio she wished existed: high-level training delivered in a calm, focused environment, with a space designed for both dancers and the families who support them.
Fort Dance was created with a simple vision: to build a place where dancers receive exceptional training while also being known, supported, and encouraged as individuals.
In today's dance world, it can be easy for training to become centered around constant schedules, packed calendars, and external achievement. While those experiences can absolutely have value, we believe meaningful growth happens when dancers are given thoughtful instruction, consistent mentorship, and the space to develop both technically and artistically over time.
Our program emphasizes strong technical foundations, artistic exploration, versatility, and healthy, sustainable training practices. We believe dancers thrive when expectations are clear, instruction is intentional, and the studio environment balances discipline with encouragement and creativity.
We encourage dancers to challenge themselves, think critically, collaborate generously, and stay connected to the joy that brought them to dance in the first place. Our goal is not simply to create strong performers, but to help young people grow into confident, creative, and resilient individuals who carry the lessons learned in the studio into every part of their lives.
Dancers train in focused programs based on age and development, with opportunities to work with guest artists, choreographers, and educators from across the country. These experiences help broaden artistic perspective, deepen versatility, and connect dancers to the larger dance community beyond their home studio.
We believe every dancer deserves to feel seen, challenged, and supported in ways that honor their individual journey. Whether a dancer hopes to pursue collegiate or professional opportunities, compete and perform at a high level, or simply train in a thoughtful and inspiring environment, our role is to guide and support that growth with honesty, care, and intention.
Fort Dance is proud to be part of the growing Fort Worth arts community, and we look forward to building a space where dancers and families can learn, grow, and create together.

Fort Dance does not center our season around a traditional recital model. Our goal is to prioritize consistent training, technical growth, and meaningful artistic experiences throughout the year.
Our Foundations Program (ages 2–5) will participate in a simple end-of-year showcase celebrating their growth and confidence in the classroom.
Dancers seeking additional performance opportunities may pursue placement within Fort Dance Company through an evaluation process. Company dancers may participate in conventions, competitions, community performances, creative projects, and an end-of-year concert.
Fort Dance was created to offer a more intentional and artist-driven approach to dance education.
Our program emphasizes:
We prioritize quality training experiences over packed schedules, excessive performances, and recital-focused programming.
Not always. Some programs are open to beginners, while others may require previous training or an evaluation for placement.
We are happy to help guide families toward the best fit for their dancer's age, experience, and goals.
Foundations is our early childhood division for dancers ages 2–5.
These classes focus on musicality, coordination, rhythm, classroom confidence, creativity, and foundational movement skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
Competition opportunities are available through Fort Dance Company for dancers seeking that experience. We aim to approach competition thoughtfully and intentionally while maintaining a strong focus on training and artistic development.
Fort Dance does not believe in requiring families to purchase expensive costumes for one-time use whenever possible.
We aim to create performance opportunities that feel purposeful, artistically meaningful, and respectful of both family investment and class training time.
Placement is based on a combination of age, experience, technical development, maturity, and training goals.
In some cases, dancers may be invited to attend an evaluation class to help determine the best fit.
Trial and introductory opportunities may be offered throughout the season based on class availability.
The best way to begin is by joining our mailing list, attending a workshop or camp, or reaching out to learn more about class placement and company evaluations.
